About Murari Lal Shanti Devi Charitable Trust (MLSD):-

Murari Lal Shanti Devi Charitable Trust (MLSD) is a non-profit, apolitical, non-partisan registered Charitable Trust (registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1950). It was set up in Year 2016 with an aim to provide opportunities to rural poor especially youth and facilitate their migration to dignified living. The purpose of this trust is to nurture the underprivileged section of the society especially children/students in remote areas, so that they get empowered to later pull out their families and communities out of hunger, despair and disadvantaged living.

Inspiration

The Trust has been inspired by following shloka from सुभाषितरत्नभाण्डागारम्:

पिबन्ति नद्य: स्वयमेव नाम्भ:, स्वयम् न खादन्ति फलानि वृक्षा:।
नादन्ति सस्यम् खलु वारिवाहा:, परोपकाराय सतां विभूतय:।।

नदियां अपना जल स्वयम् नहीं पीतीं हैं। वृक्ष अपने फल स्वयं नहीं खाते हैं और बादल अपना अनाज स्वयम् नहीं खाते हैं। सज्जनों की सम्पत्ति परोपकार के लिए ही होती है।

The water of rivers is for others, the fruits of trees are also for others. Similarly, in farming, the crop is caused by clouds (water showered with clouds). But the clouds themselves do not eat the crop, all the elements in this world are meant to help the others.

Murari Lal Shanti Devi Charitable Trust owes its formation to the inspirational life and struggles of Late Shri Murari Lal Mittal and Smt Shanti Devi Mittal. Their deep concern and commitment towards the education, healthcare, and supporting really underprivileged sections of society more particularly in rural area; led to the formation of the Trust.
